Privacy policy

Your scans are yours.

PocketScan is built so that your documents never leave your phone unless you send them somewhere. This policy explains exactly what that means.

Last updated 21 October 2026

This policy covers the PocketScan apps for iPhone and Android (“the app”) and this website. “We” and “us” mean the team that makes PocketScan.

What we collect

Nothing. The app has no account or sign-in, contains no analytics, advertising or tracking code, and does not connect to the internet. We never receive your documents, images, document names, settings or any information about your device.

If you have chosen in your phone’s settings to share diagnostics with app developers, Apple or Google may give us anonymous crash reports and usage statistics for the app. Apple and Google collect these under their own privacy policies, not through PocketScan, and you can turn this off in your phone’s settings at any time.

What stays on your device

To do its job, the app stores the following in its private storage on your phone:

  • the original images you capture or import, and your edits to them (crop, rotation, appearance);
  • your saved documents, unfinished drafts, and their names;
  • files you create (PDF and JPEG), a short history of your exports, and preview images;
  • your preferences, such as the default export quality.

This information never leaves your device through PocketScan. Your documents and the files the app creates are excluded from device and cloud backups, and from transfers to a new phone. PocketScan doesn’t add its own encryption; your files are protected by your phone’s security, such as its passcode and built-in encryption.

Created files and export history may be removed after seven days without use. You can delete documents at any time, and uninstalling the app or clearing its data removes everything it has stored.

Permissions

Camera

The app asks for camera access the first time you scan, after explaining why. The camera is used only while you are scanning, and images are processed on your device. If you decline, you can still import photos.

Photos

Importing uses the system photo picker on iPhone and Android, which gives PocketScan only the photos you select. The app never asks for access to your whole photo library.

Files and sharing

When you share a file or save a copy, your phone’s share sheet or file picker opens and you choose where it goes. PocketScan needs no extra permission for this.

Sharing your files

We don’t sell, rent or share any data, because we don’t have any. When you send an exported file to another app or service, such as email, messaging or cloud storage, that service handles the file under its own privacy policy.

This website

This website uses no cookies, analytics or trackers, and loads no third-party resources: fonts and images are served from this site. It is hosted by Vercel, which, like any web host, processes technical data such as IP addresses and the pages requested in order to deliver and protect the site. See Vercel’s privacy policy for details.

Your choices

Because we hold no personal data about you, there is nothing for us to access, correct, export or delete on your behalf. Everything PocketScan stores is under your control on your device: delete documents in the app, clear previews in Storage & privacy, or uninstall the app to remove it all.

Children

PocketScan collects no data from anyone, including children.

Changes

If PocketScan ever changes how it handles data, we will update this policy, and the date at the top, before that version is released.
